ORDER DENYING ALTERNATIVE SERVICE FOR LACK OF DOCUMENTATION

Before the Court is Plaintiff’s July 14, 2025 Motion for Alternative Means of Service and
Extension of Time. Leave to serve by alternative means requires that personal service is
impractical, and that the serving party makes a reasonable effort to provide actual notice of the
action. This Court will only grant a motion to authorize alternative service if it is accompanied
by:

1.
Evidence showing personal service is impractical. This is typically done through a
process server’s affidavit, and typically requires at least four service attempts over
a sufficient period of time that it is unlikely the person to be served was
temporarily out of town.

2.
Evidence showing the person lives or works at the address at which alternative
service is sought. There are several ways of proving this, but avowals of counsel
or a party are not enough.

3.
A form of order that specifies (a) the manner of alternative service sought, and (b)
the address at which alternative service is sought.

The Motion does not comply with these requirements, and is denied because the form of
order is insufficiently specific.

IT IS ORDERED denying the Motion.
