How to Cite Public Records

Citing public records makes your posts credible and protects you legally. Here's how to do it properly.

OAH (Office of Administrative Hearings) Cases

Format: OAH Case No. [case number]
Example: OAH Case No. 23A-HOA-0142

When discussing an OAH case, include:
  • The case number
  • The parties involved (HOA name vs. homeowner — use public record names only)
  • The ALJ (Administrative Law Judge) name if relevant
  • The outcome or current status
  • Link to the case page on yourazhoaattorney.com if available

ADRE (Arizona Department of Real Estate) Complaints

Format: ADRE Complaint No. [number]
Example: ADRE Complaint No. CR-2024-0567

Include:
  • The complaint number
  • The HOA or entity involved
  • The general nature of the complaint
  • The resolution if known

Court Cases

Format: [Court] Case No. [number]
Example: Maricopa County Superior Court Case No. CV2023-012345

Corporate Records

Arizona Corporation Commission records are public. You can reference:
  • Entity name and ACC file number
  • Registered agent information (public record)
  • Annual reports and officer listings (public record)

Pro Tips
  • Quote the record, don't paraphrase. "The ALJ found that..." is better than "The judge said they were wrong."
  • Link when possible. If the case is on yourazhoaattorney.com, link directly to it.
  • Date your references. Records change over time — note when you accessed the information.
